Come join us for the 2nd European Conference on Technology Enhanced Learning, from 17 to 20 September in Crete, Greece (http://www.ectel07.org/): four days of Serious Fun!

We are very proud to announce our keynote speakers:

- Bruce Sterling, professor at the European Graduate School and "visionary in residence" at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California is one of the early visionaries of the "Internet of Things". His famous speeches introduced new memes (like spime) that continue to be an inspiration for many researchers. Bruce is also ... a science fiction writer

- Hermann Maurer is professor of computer science at the Technical University Graz in Austria, with an impressive list of achievements in the form of numerous papers, books, companies and patents. Hermann is one of the pioneers of Technology Enhanced Learning in Europe and a widely acclaimed and sought after speaker. He is also ... a science fiction writer

This year's exciting program includes the following highlights:

- RESEARCH in TEL

Researchers from around the world will present their results and ongoing research activities in the areas of Technology-Enhanced Learning, professional learning and knowledge management. Topics include learning design, attention awareness, games, social software, adaptation and personalization, authoring, infrastructures, repositories and applications.

- GLOBE

The GLOBE consortium of learning repository networks will use its panel session to hold a public dialogue about your requirements for share and reuse and how it can address these.
This will be a unique opportunity to learn more about this global community of repositories.

- INDUSTRY MEETS RESEARCH

There will be almost a full day of industrial sessions, where participants from IMC, BT, EADS, IDS, Synergetics and Giunti will present their experiences and lessons learned.

- TEL WORKSHOPS AND DOCTORAL CONSORTIUM

Two days of workshops and doctoral consortium will precede the actual conference days: with topics ranging from social information retrieval to collaborative open environments for project-centered learning these workshops provide excellent opportunities for more indepth presentations and discussion of specific TEL topics.

- RESEARCH FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES

Several high ranking officials from the European Commission will present their views on technology enhanced learning, with a specific focus on research funding, the Framework Program 7 calls and other funding instruments.

- CALL FOR POSTERS

Consider submitting a poster. Like last year, this will be a rare opportunity for European projects to present themselves to their peers and other interested parties. Please send your poster proposal by August 1 to martin.wolpers@cs.kuleuven.be: all we need at this stage is a 2 page description of what you want to present and why it is relevant to the ECTEL community.

- STUDENT VOLUNTEERS

If you are a student, consider volunteering for the conference. It is a fun way to get a look behind the scenes of the conference and to get introduced to the community. And you get FREE registration and conference dinner, as well as a cool T-shirt!
